The Grumman F6F Hellcat is one of the finest fighting machines ever to take to the skies during World War II. A product of the successful Grumman ‘Ironworks’, the American company’s objective was to produce an aircraft that was faster, more powerful, can take extreme punishment and was easy to manufacture and maintain. The result was a fine combat machine that was a joy to fly and was so dependable that it was named as the best naval aircraft to take the skies during the war. Seeing combat first in 1943, it quickly swept the skies over the Pacific of the opposition and gained a legendary reputation with friend and foe alike.
